On October 31 between 7.30 am and 3 pm, Scotiabank Robb Street branch will host its annual cake sale fundraiser to aid in breast cancer prevention and treatment programmes.
According to a press release from the bank, the cake sale is the branch’s ‘flagship’ charitable event and is in its 14th year of hosting. Cash made during the cake sale is usually matched by the Scotiabank Bright Future Programme.
Last year, a total of $1.4 million was garnered, from which, “sizable donations” were made to the Periwinkle Cancer Club and other cancer societies, Branch Manager, Brian Hackett said. “This year,” Hackett expressed, “we are hoping to top that and make an even bigger contribution to help persons living with cancer.”
The event, the release said, is supported by Scotiabankers countrywide who contribute cakes and pastries, and includes customers and members of the general public who purchase items sold.
A call is issued encouraging persons to patronise the October 31 event in demonstration of support to persons affected by cancer. The bank’s Facebook page Scotiabank GY will feature patrons who supported the event.
