Dear Editor,
I had an experience at Republic Bank Guyana recently that left me puzzled, confused and wondering who creates the policies at that bank.
I took an E-Networks cable TV invoice to verify my address, only to be told by the teller that I cannot use it as a proof of address. Needless to say, I was furious and insisted that she speak with a supervisor. She did, and upon her return there was no change in the position.
The reason offered to me about why they could not accept the cable TV invoice is that it is manipulatable. I believe that this bank has failed to arrive in 2015 where everything can be manipulated.
The utility bills they are using as proof of address may soon be out of circulation as these companies are moving much of that type of billing online. And at the pace the country is moving it is likely that many people will, sooner rather than later, be using technology to receive most of their bills, statements and other documents which currently arrive through the post.
Therefore, I recommend that this bank leaves 1990, comes into 2015 and plans for the consumers of this decade.
Yours faithfully,
Dmitri Nicholson
