American Festival billed for October 17

An American festival titled “Meet Me in St Louis,” after the iconic Judy Garland film is billed for the Promenade Gardens on Middle Street, Georgetown from 4 pm on Saturday, October 17.

Accord to a press release from the Global Friendships Foundation, the festival is being co-hosted by the Embassy of the United States and will include stellar performances, and non-stop fun for the entire family.

“Celebrating America’s rich intercultural diversity, this family friendly event is free, with plenty of American food and beverages available, and activities for visitors of all ages,” the release said.

20151003Della MaeThe featured performer of the festival is going to be Della Mae, a most accomplished and respected, creative and performing all female group of artists.

The Grammy-nominated band, hailed as “goddesses working for peace,” consists of two time Grand National Fiddle champion, Kimber Ludiker; Celia Woodsmith a Grammy-nominated performer and songwriter; lead singer and mandolin player Jenni Lyn; Courtney Hartman, an American songwriter, guitarist, and singer; and singer and Bass player Zoe Guigueno.

The Nashville Tennessee Americana band will be brought here by the US Embassy.

The release said the festival is intended to forge greater understanding by all Guyanese of the unique national identity of the people of the United States and is the first of what is intended to become an annual celebration of the life, music, and culture of the United States of America in Georgetown.
