A 77-year-old man was discovered dead in a trench yesterday morning at Brusche Dam, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Dead is Albert (only name given) also known as “Bobby” of Lot 1 Vigilance North, ECD. When Stabroek News visited the father of eight’s house yesterday, relatives gathered as they received the shocking news. Many were convinced that he drowned.
Satyannand Albert, son of the dead man, said he was informed of his father being missing early yesterday morning when his mother visited his home informing him that she was unable to find him.
Satyannand said that upon receiving the news he immediately ventured out to conduct a search for his sickly father when he spotted him lying face down minutes later in a nearby trench. There were no marks of violence on his body, he added.
While it is strange to the family as to why Albert left his house so early in the morning, his son surmised that he left for some reason during which he fell into the trench where he died.
The body is currently at the Lykens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination which will be conducted today.
