The Jamaican amateur association will stage a box off to select a team to participate in the International Goodwill tournament which will be hosted here next month
According to a release from the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Jamaica’s boxing head, Stephen Jones was in contact with GBA’s president Steve Ninvalle yesterday and confirmed that his association will be sending at least four boxers to compete at the November 26-29 fixture.
Jamaica’s box off is scheduled for October 23.
Jamaica was one of four countries that participated in the inaugural International Goodwill Tournament held here last year February.
The others were St Lucia, Trinidad and the host country.
Fifteen territories were invited to compete at the Goodwill event and according to Ninvalle, eight of them have confirmed their participation so far.
Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, French Guiana, Jamaica, St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago are the territories that are confirmed.
