In their pursuit of the inaugural Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite League championship, Vergenoegen giant Slingerz FC will make a statement of intent as they are allegedly positioned to sign Golden Jaguars International Brandon Beresford.
According to sources close to the club, the United States of America native is expected on local shores today to finalize an agreement with the West Demerara side to be a part of their roster for a period of the event’s duration.
The sources further said that the box-to-box midfielder is allegedly being offered a record amount from the club for his services, noting that the Vergenoegen side supposedly beat out two other GFF Elite clubs for his signature.
According to the sources, the other two interested clubs were allegedly Bourda based unit Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Berbice outfit Monedderlust FC.
The sources noted that Beresford is allegedly wanted by a club in England but there is an issue in acquiring his work permit, so he opted to sign for the West Demerara club until the matter is possibly resolved.
The 23 year old Beresford who started his youth career with Graceland Yellowjackets, has been a part of the national setup at the junior and senior levels since 2010. He has also had club stints with Des Moines Menace, Forest City London and Michigan Bucks.
Beresford has been capped nine times by the Golden Jaguars and has recorded two goals to his name, with the most recent strike coming against St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers opening leg at the Arnos Vale Stadium.
