Linden Lashley and Natasha David are partners in the nine-month-old GuyPride Construction Company a seemingly fast-rising entity that appears set to make a mark in the construction, renovation, repairs and real estate sectors.
Lashley is the son of an engineer who once worked as a Medex for a gold mining company. David has worked with the social services and in teaching and the two have pooled their separate experiences to immerse themselves in one of the fastest growing areas of business in Guyana.
The two admit that they may be on the threshold of tying up their biggest ever construction deal, a contract with Habitat For Humanity that could see the company play a leading role in the construction sector in Regions Three and Four.
Lashley told Stabroek Business that the partners’ venture into the construction sector came only after they had decided that it was possible to provide the local market with “quality” properties at affordable prices. What may also have pushed the two in that direction are the connections afforded Lashley on account of his father’s profession. What the partners have done is to recruit an array of skills related to the construction industry and deploy them to various projects in the construction sector.
Beyond actual construction GuyPride offers related services that include landscaping and decorating while the company provides a one-year insurance on homes which it builds through NALICO.
If the partners get their way the period ahead is likely to be a busy one for them. They disclosed that in the short term they will be paying greater attention to opportunities afforded by construction jobs in the state sector made public through tender. Additionally, there are plans to accelerate their pursuit of real estate opportunities.
Their plans, however, do not stop there. GuyPride is the owner of mining concessions in the south-west Essequibo region and the partners say that they plan to focus more attention on the mining sector early next year.
