Blairmont Primary School batsman, Veer Farhad stroked an unbeaten ton which set up a commanding 114-run win over Ithaca Primary in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)/Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Scotiabank Kiddy Progression One Cricket at the Blairmont ground on Tuesday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Blairmont Primary compiled a mammoth 199 without loss from their allotted 14 overs. Farhad led the way with his 111 which included seven sixes and 12 boundaries. His opening partner, Jaheim Elgin, supported him with an unbeaten 44 which featured three sixes and three fours.
When Ithaca replied, they never looked threatening as opening batsman Samuel Archibald managed to meet double figures with 14 runs in his team’s total of 85. Farhad and Elgin were also outstanding with the ball, grabbing two wickets apiece along with Nicholas Netram and Vishual Persaud who also accounted for two wickets each.
The competition continues tomorrow with No. 5 Primary challenging their counterparts at No. 8 Primary on the No. 5 Cricket Ground in West Berbice. The Racquet Centre Ground in Georgetown will host the remaining matches which will feature the following: North Georgetown against Marian’s Academy; School of the Nation challenging St Ambrose and St Margaret’s doing battle against Winfer Gardens.
