KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC-Andre McCarthy plundered an unbeaten century on the opening day of the fifth scheduled Jamaica Scorpions three-day trial match on Wednesday.
McCarthy, a middle order batsman, roared to159 not out to boost John Campbell’s X1 to 346 for nine against Paul Palmer’s X1 at Sabina Park.
After a quiet start Campbell’s innings turned to aggression blasting 13 fours and five sixes and got support from veteran wicket/keeper batsman Carlton Baugh who scored an attacking 94.
Baugh, who was dropped on 54, was particularly hostile to spinner Damion Jacobs, hammering him for four sixes in one over.
Selectors are using the matches to pick the squad for the second edition of the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) set to start in November.
The third trial match was abandoned because the Sabina Park pitch was declared unsafe for batsmen.
