Dear Editor,
When I consider the fact that my landline telephone 4424704 at Linden has been out of service for almost five months, the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph’s new motto of “Do more” sounds ludicrous. Maybe this is one of their strategies to increase revenue, because I now have to resort to increased usage of my cellphone, and cellphone rates are much higher than landline rates. My fervent hope is that the telecommunications liberalization bill is passed in Parliament soon.
Let’s see how efficient the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company’s customer service will be when they no longer operate as a monopoly in the telephone landline sector.
Yours faithfully,
Ian James
