The Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) recorded sugar production at 8,307 tonnes for the week ending October 9th, 2015, which represented 88% of the intended target of 9,460 tonnes.
According to a press release from the company, the estates at Skeldon, Rose Hall, Blairmont and Uitvlugt all surpassed their expected target, while the estates in East Demerara achieved 99.2% of their target.
However, the Albion and Wales estates registered shortfalls at their respective factories due to mechanical problems.
There was a weekly combined total of 201 hours of factory loss time, of which the Albion and Wales estates contributed 56 and 96 hours, respectively, due to mechanical problems.
As at October 12, 2015, GuySuCo said recorded sugar production at 85,924 tonnes, which represents “58.7% of the estimate for the crop.” Further, the release said, 167,068 tonnes has been produced for the year to date, which represents 73.5% of the total sugar production estimated for the year.
