The new Head of Go-Invest is to be picked by a recruitment agency, raising questions as to why the position isn’t being publicly advertised.
Queries by Stabroek News with the office of the Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin on whether an advertisement was being placed for a new candidate produced the response that the task has been outsourced to a recruitment agency.
The APNU+AFC government has taken heat for hand-picking candidates for important public positions despite pre-election assurances that these jobs would be open to all to apply for. The use of a recruitment agency would run counter to this.
Reports have circulated that the government has already decided who will replace Keith Burrowes as head of the investment agency.
Gaskin’s office added that the hiring of a new Chief Executive Officer for Go-Invest is being addressed by the Board of Directors of the agency.
