A worker was yesterday charged with stealing almost $200,000 from Popeyes’ Camp Street branch.
The charge against Niketa Williams, 23, stated that on October 10th, she stole $180,000 from the fast food restaurant. However, the money was reportedly recovered.
Williams, a mother of two, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing and she was released on $30,000 bail.
She will make her next court appearance before Magistrate Fabayo Azore on October 29th.
Meanwhile, a shopkeeper was yesterday remanded after being accused of stealing a cell phone and cash from a woman.
The charge against Anthony Charles stated that on October 9, at Lombard Street, he stole an HTC smart phone valued $200,000 and $10,000 cash from Odessa Fraser.
According to the prosecution, both the phone and the cash were recovered and Charles was positively identified by Fraser.
Charles pleaded not guilty to the charge and his attorney, Paul Fung-A-Fat, made an application for bail in a reasonable sum.
However, his bail application was denied and Charles was subsequently remanded to jail until October 29th, when he too will appear before Magistrate Azore.
