The shortlists for The Guyana Prize for Literature will be announced on October 31st, 2015, the Management Commit-tee for the awards announced yesterday.
In a press release, the committee said the shortlists would be announced for the Guyana Prize in Fiction, Poetry and Drama inclusive of First Books of poetry and fiction; and for the Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award in Fiction, Poetry and Drama.
While both prizes are open to Guyanese writers, those from the Caribbean can only enter the Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award. The awards will be announced and presented at an official ceremony on November 29th, 2015.
Haitian Myriam Chancy’s The Loneliness of Angels and Guyanese Mark Mcwatt’s The Journey to Le Repentir won the first Guyana Caribbean Prize for Fiction and for Poetry, respectively, in 2010.
