Stabroek News had previously reported that Singh was just about to park his motorcycle just after mid-day on September 8 at a corner on Eccles Public Road, to await his daughter who was in a nearby church, when the car appeared and hit him from the back. The impact of the collision pitched the rider some distance. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was admitted a patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU); his condition was listed as critical. However, a few days after, he was transferred to the Balwant Singh Hospital from where he was discharged one week ago.

Speaking to this newspaper on Sunday, Singh’s son, Omesh Singh, former accountant of the Georgetown Chambers of Commerce (GCC) said that he has been continuously checking with the police and is hoping that the driver of the car, PKK 589, that allegedly hit his father off his motorcycle will face the full consequence soon.

He said his father has been in his care since his discharge last week and is unable to do anything on his own. According to Omesh, his father is currently paralysed on his right hand and foot and has been bedridden. He added, he was informed by doctors that he may be able to move the arm and foot again once he undergo therapy while adding that he has no capability to give a statement of the incident to the police. This, he said, leaves him to worry if the matter will ever get anywhere. He also said he tried to gather some information from his father about the accident but was unable to and rather was force to visit the scene himself and speak with eyewitnesses. This he said provided him with some sort of information including the number of the car which was a silver grey Toyota wagon.

Omesh said he was promised an update this week on the incident and is waiting patiently to see what will be the outcome of the matter.
