Over two years after he allegedly attempted to kill a woman and her three daughters, ex-policeman Shawn Fordyce was yesterday captured in the city.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum yesterday confirmed the arrest of Fordyce by the police at the junction of Church and Alexander streets, in Georgetown.
Fordyce is wanted after allegedly attacking newspaper vendor Dorothy Blackman and her three daughters, the youngest of whom is his, at ‘D’ Field, Sophia, on August 1st, 2013. Blackman bore the brunt of the attack, in which she was chopped, and she was in and out of hospital for three months.
Although police had issued a wanted bulletin for the man, he had eluded capture since then.
Blanhum said yesterday that legal advice was already sought and Fordyce is expected to be charged soon.
Stabroek News understands that Fordyce was arrested during the wee hours of yesterday morning by ranks on a mobile patrol. He was arrested and taken to the Brickdam Police Station before being transferred to ‘C’ Division, where he remains in custody.
