A fire at the United Nations (UN) offices on Brickdam, suspected to have been of electrical origin, was quickly contained by employees yesterday.
The workers responded promptly with fire extinguishers, UN Resident Coordi-nator and UNDP Resident Representative in Guyana, Khadija Musa said.
The fire started in a room inside the building sometime around 6pm. Musa said that the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) also disconnected the power, which may have helped to contain the fire.
There may not be significant disruption of work as a result of the fire as Musa indicated that the office will likely be open today.
