When the GTM Health and Fitness Expo is staged this weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Courts Guyana Inc. will be a key contributor.
During a simple ceremony on Wednesday at Courts’ Main Street head office, coordinator of the event, Noshavyah King received a $200,000 donation to aid in the expenses of the Expo.
King thanked Courts’ representatives for the gesture and then stated that there will be “lots of exhibitors with different things in terms of health and fitness; everything health and fitness so I’m encouraging the Guyanese public to come out and support. It’s the first time being done in Guyana and the two full days has something for everyone.”
At the Expo on Day one, a myriad of events will be held including: Jazzercise, yoga, kickboxing, soca aerobics, circuit training, boot camp classes and six pack ab classes during the day. In the evening, there will be the 5K (Glow), Night Walk and the Zumba Glow Pink Party for Cancer Awareness.
Day two will be highlighted by karate demonstrations, capoeira, dancing and bodybuilding. There would also be competitions in the disciplines of basketball, football, volleyball, power lifting and cross fit. Crowd participation games will also be played.
Fans will also get a chance to interact with some of the top athletes in the country at the meet and greet. This will be Guyana’s premiere Fitness Expo of 2015.
Admission is $1500 for one day and $2000 for the weekend pass.
Meanwhile, in keeping with its annual tradition, the Courts Invitational Golf Tournament will also tee off this weekend at the Lusignan Golf Course (LGC).
Representatives of the company handed $250,000 dollars on Wednesday to the LGC for the hosting of its annual golf tournament.
Following the presentation, LGC’s president Oncar Ramroop lauded Courts for once again sponsoring the discipline.
“Courts has been involved in sports in all disciplines, and golf is no exception. It’s an opportune time as we have the Guyana Open coming up in a week’s time and it’s a prelude to that tournament.”
Ramroop then noted that golfers are anxious for the staging of the tournament, which gets underway from 12:30 at the LGC. Vice president of the Club, Guy Griffith encouraged spectators to attend the event which is void of an admission fee.
