Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) will today meet with Albion Cricket Club in the final of the 2015 Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Bobby Deonarine/Tom Gruntzel sponsored Tenelec Inc., limited overs first division tournament.
RHTYSC reached the final after defeating Young Warriors in their semi-final match last weekend with national batsman Assad Fudadin and all-rounders Rajiv Ivan and Shawn Perreira the principal performers.
RHTYSC posted 254 for 8 off their allotted 50 overs with Fudadin top scoring with 68 an innings which included seven fours and one six while fellow opener Vidal Crandon struck eight fours in his 37.
The two shared an opening stand of 67.
The in-form Jason Sinclair struck 42 with four fours and two sixes, capping off a decent batting performance by the winners.
Kassim Khan (2-41) and Kevin Ramdeen (3-59) were the primary wicket-takers for Young Warriors who, in reply were restricted to 193 in 42.5 overs as Ivan and Perreira bagged 4-34 and 4-39 respectively as Young Warriors slumped to a 61-run defeat.
Shimron Hetmyer (45), Kassim Khan (36*), Seon Hetmyer (20) and Waheid Edwards (20) all got decent starts but failed to see their team home.
Today’s final is expected to get underway at 9.30am.
