A new portrait of former standout boxer, Cliff Anderson was unveiled at the Sports Hall named after him last evening by Director of Sport, Chris Jones and boxer Clive Atwell.
The unveiling of the portrait is part of the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) mandate to highlight prominent sports men and women of Guyana.
Yesterday would have been Anderson known as the ‘Black Panther’ 94th birth anniversary.
Anderson was active between 1945 and 1953. He boxed at bantamweight; featherweight; lightweight and took part in 72 professional contests
He died at approximately 02.35 hours on December 2, 1998 at the Davis Memorial Hospital. He was 77 years old.
