The Field Tactical Exercise (FTX) codenamed Exercise Greenheart that commenced on 20 October 2015 in Region 7 will continue.
A press release from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Saturday reported that the FTX is a controlled assignment involving an Infantry Brigade in the conduct of Close Country Warfare operations.
During the first three days the troops had advanced 21 miles from the starting point through dense jungle as they performed tactical ‘enemy-encounter’ manoeuvres. Presently they are in a defensive mode as they continue to carry out drills for that theatre of operation. Today, they will prepare for and conduct an assault on the “enemy’s” base camp.
The GDF emphasised that the residents of Region 7 have no reason to be alarmed.
