The final of two practice matches organized by the Guyana Cricket Board for the Guyana Jaguars in preparation for the upcoming regional season will bowl off today at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Teams will be led by Leon Johnson and Robin Bacchus.
The first match, which concluded last week at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda, saw top performances by the senior players. Batsmen Vishaul Singh and Kevon Boodie slammed centuries while young Shimron Hetmyer, who led one of the sides, scored two half centuries.
Also recording half centuries in the first match were Johnson and Assad Fudadin.
Pacers Keon Joseph and Raun Johnson were among the wicket-takers while spinners Gudakesh Motie, Veerasammy Permaul, Steven Sankar and Steven Jacobs were also impressive.
Today’s match, which begins at 9:30am and wraps up at 16:00hrs until Thursday 29 November, is also expected to be intensely contested.
With a bit of reshuffling done to both sides, the selectors will be able to properly scout different combinations and allow the players to gel better with each other ahead of their first assignment in this year’s Professional Cricket League (PCL) season and 4 day tournament which bowls off November 6 at the Guyana National Stadium against the Windward Volcanoes
