Essential Supplies Inc., a subsidiary of International Pharmaceutical Agency, through its Clear Waters brand, yesterday morning
made a commitment to outfit the umpires for the games and to provide water for refreshment purposes free of cost for the players and officials participating in the fifth annual Guyana Softball Cup tournament which bowls off Friday. According to Narendra Lucknauth, Marketing, Sales and Distribution Manager of Essential Supplies, his company was excited to again play a role in the tournament which has attracted softball teams from North America.
“We have been with them from the inception, and we’re once again proud to be part of the biggest softball tournament in Guyana,” Lucknauth said.
GFSCA President Ramchand Ragbeer, thanked Essential Supplies for their support and said that Clear Waters’ role was vital to the success of the competition.
“Without their involvement, the Guyana Softball Cup would not be a success,” he declared.
Vice-president of the GFSCA, Ricky Deonarain, one of the country’s top softball players, said the tournament is set to bowl off promptly Friday adding that participating teams and officials are invited to a final briefing tomorrow afternoon from 17:30h in the main pavilion of the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda when the tournament rules and fixtures will be announced.
A total of 26 teams, 10 in the Open and 16 in the Masters, will compete for top honours when the tournament bowls off Friday concluding with the grand finale Sunday under floodlights at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground in Queenstown.
Wolf’s Warriors are the defending champions of the Open category, while Floodlights won the Masters division in 2014.
