The Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) held a blood drive in the Greeters Hall of the airport on Wednesday and saw a 30-unit donation from staff.
According to a CJIAC press release, the activity was in response to the Ministry of Public Health’s National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) efforts to replenish the blood bank.
CJIAC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dursatty Doodnauth-Mangru said prior to the drive, staff from the Health Ministry were invited to sensitise CJIAC staff on blood donation so as to allay any lingering fears.
Doodnauth-Mangru said she was enthused with the zealousness the staff showed for the initiative now in its second year.
The 2015 blood drive was held under the theme “Life is precious, save a life, give blood.”
