The suspect in the murder of a Ruimzigt, West Coast Demerara resident, who was beaten to death on Sunday, is to be arraigned today.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News that the man, who was one of three persons arrested in connection with the murder of Omadat Shiwraj, has been charged with the capital offence.
He said Shiwraj was reportedly chopped by the suspect and was continuously stomped on the head after he fell to the ground.
Shiwraj was drinking with some friends around 8:30 pm when there was an argument. As a result, Shiwraj was attacked and beaten and left to die.
The suspect and a couple were subsequently held. The couple was released without charge.
