After being discharged briefly from the Balwant Singh Hospital following surgery to his skull, Clive Atwell was yesterday rushed to the Georgetown hospital after experiencing swelling in the brain.
Atwell sustained the injuries following his WBC FECARBOX super lightweight fight which ended prematurely last Saturday night at the Giftland Mall.
According to a source at the Balwant Singh Hospital, the 26 year-old was diagnosed with massive intracranial hemorrhage and general swelling to the brain.
An emergency surgery was done on him by local neurosurgeon, Amarnauth Dukhi during which part of the skull was removed, the bleeding ceased and swelling was under control. Before being discharged on Thursday, Atwell was neurologically stable and was responding verbally while admitted at the Balwant Singh Hospital.
However, boxing fans are once again holding a collective breath with his admittance to the GPHC.
