A new champion will be crowned in the fourth annual Courts Pee-Wee Under-11 football championship as Enterprise, St. Angela’s, West Ruimveldt and St Pius clinched semi-final berths yesterday at the Thirst Park venue. Enterprise Primary sent holders Stella Maris packing as they won by a 3-1 score line in their quarterfinal matchup.
In a rematch of the earlier group showdown which was won 3-0 by Enterprise, the Woolford Avenue side drew first blood as they netted in the 10th minute as a Jayden Pitt strike from the left side of the box, deflected off the leg of Martin King and settled into the back of the net.
Nevertheless, Enterprise Primary fired back three minutes later as Seon Archibald scored with a powerful right footed attempt into the roof of the net from within the right side of the penalty area.
It then became 2-1 in favour of the challenger as King scored in the 32nd minute, lashing a left side shot through the hands of the keeper and into the back of the net, after stealing the ball from the final defender.
The win was then sealed in the 36th minute as Archibald scored his second, finishing past the keeper in a one-on-one situation after racing into the left side of the penalty box. With the win, Enterprise will now faceoff with former winner St. Pius who edged South Ruimveldt 1-0.
Christian Jupiter separated the two sides with a 35th minute strike. The other semi-final matchup will be a clash of the giants as St. Angeles will tackle West Ruimveldt. St. Angela’s sealed their place in the final four after making light work of Tucville Primary 4-0.
