Regal XI and Regal Masters secured spots in the finals of the Open and Master’s categories of the ongoing Guyana Softball Cup 5 which continued across venues in the city yesterday.
Regal disposed of the Mercenaries by 166 runs after scoring 207 for 9 in 20 overs. Navin Singh hit 51 and Safraz Khan 77 while Nankishore Narayan picked up three wickets for the Mercenaries who were bundled out for 63 in 16.3 overs with Greg Singh and Gajanand Singh both making 19. Bowling for Regal XI Richard Latiff picked up 3-25.
After a another good win in the preliminary round, Regal XI in their semi-final played at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary, thumped Shakib XI by 76 runs after scoring 189 in their 20 overs. Shakib in reply were restricted to 113 all out.
In the master’s category, Regal Masters were tasked with making 77 and reached their target without breaking a sweat against the New York Better Hope XI. Up to press time, other results were yet to be confirmed.
