One of the persons who was found dead on the seawall yesterday after reportedly ingesting poison has been identified as 19-year-old Cummings Lodge resident Kavita Ackloo.
The teen’s father identified her remains at the Lyken’s Funeral Home at around 5 pm today. He told Stabroek News that he does not know the identity of the man who was found with his daughter.
It was a passerby who stumbled upon the remains while passing the Kingston seawalls behind the Pegasus Hotel.
They were last seen alive around 2 pm walking along another section of the seawalls.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum had informed this newspaper that the police received a call around 5 pm yesterday, alerting them that there were two bodies lying on the seawall. As a result, he said, investigators made their way to the scene where the fully clothed bodies were found. They bore no visible marks of violence.
According to Blanhum, ranks retrieved a receipt from the right side pants pocket of the man, which indicated that two poisonous substances had been purchased. Police did not divulge where the substances were purchased nor the names of the poisons.
