ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC-The much-anticipated report by the Cricket Review Panel set up to examine the governance structure and make recommendations on the way forward for West Indies cricket will be revealed today, a Grenada Government Information statement announced yesterday.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, Chair of the CARICOM Sub-committee on Cricket Governance, will hold a joint media conference with Dr. Eudine Bariteau, principal of UWI-Cavehill and appointed chair of the Cricket Review Panel.
The contents of the report by the Cricket Review Panel are expected to be revealed during the news conference which will be carried live on national television and streamed over the internet.
Last month, the Review Panel, which was put in place after a meeting in Grenada in April, between the CARICOM Cricket Governance Subcommittee of heads and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), submitted their report to the Prime Ministers on the CARICOM Sub-Committee.
The Subcommittee, namely Prime Minister Mitchell, Ralph Gonsalves of St.Vincent and the Grenadines and Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda, have since met and decided that Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Bariteau should report on the work of the Review Panel, with an aim to moving speedily to enact the recommendations of the panel.
The independent Review Panel comprised Dr. Bariteau, as Chair, Dr. Warren Smith, President of the Caribbean Development Bank, Sir Denis Byron, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice, Deryck Murray, former West Indies Cricket great, and Dwayne Gill, President of the Grenada Cricket Association.
The CARICOM Secretariat facilitated the work of the Panel over the last five or so months.
