A 17-year old mechanic is now dead after he lost control of a car while driving along the Lusignan Public Road on Wednesday night.
Shamshudar Deolall was one of four persons in the car, which flipped over when he lost control of it.
The accident occurred around 11pm.
“I was in the front seat and like he start drive lil speed and he guh fuh overtake a car and a bus was coming fast and he couldn’t make it so he dash back on the left side and he lose control and it turn over,” Gopie Narine, the owner of the vehicle, told Stabroek News yesterday.
According to Narine, after the car crashed and flipped over, he and the other passengers pulled themselves out of the vehicle.
It was then that they knew that Deolall was dead. “All a we pull we self out and we ain’t see he coming out, so we rush to he side and pull he out and he wasn’t moving. He was bleeding all over and he wasn’t moving,” Narine said as he broke down into tears.
While it was a horrific accident that totaled the vehicle, the other passengers only sustained minor cuts and bruises.
Narine explained that while the vehicle belonged to him and Deolall wasn’t the holder of a driver’s licence, he would often allow him to drive it because the teen was well-acquainted with vehicles.
Deolall’s grieving mother said she had spoken to him sometime earlier in the afternoon, when he informed her he was going to drive around.
