COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, CMC – West Indies will have to do without Twenty20’s leader bowler, Samuel Badree for their two-match series against Sri Lanka starting next Monday.
The 34-year-old, who sits on top of the ICC Twenty20 bowlers’ rankings, has fallen ill and will be replaced in the 15-man squad by fellow leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo.
Badree has taken 31 wickets from 22 Twenty20s, the last of which came against New Zealand in the Caribbean over a year ago now.
Bishoo, who turns 30 on Friday, was part of the Test and one-day squad, and will now take his place in the side which will be led by Darren Sammy.
A former ICC Emerging Player-Of-The-Year, Bishoo has six wickets at 16.33 each. He earned one Man-Of-The-Match award on debut against Pakistan in St Lucia in 2011.
