The Mayor Hamilton Green 81st Birth Anniversary Inter-Ward tourney will commence today at the Victoria Community ground with 10 fixtures.
The seven-a-side knockout tournament, will be contested for over $400,000 in cash and prizes. In the opening fixture at 16:00hrs, Lima Dam will tackle Grove while Kuru-Kururu will lock horns with South Sophia from 16:30hrs.
At, 17:00hrs, Plaisance will lock horns with North Sophia while Golden Grove will oppose Mocha Arcadia from 17:30hrs. In the fifth affair, Haslington will tackle Mocha from 18:00hrs whilst Buxton will oppose Agricola from 18:30hrs in the sixth matchup.
The seventh matchup will then pit Beterverwagting (BV) against Kitty from 19:00hrs while Mahaica will faceoff with Newtown Kitty from 19:30hrs in the eighth matchup.
In the final two fixtures, Ann’s Grove will oppose Herstelling from 20:00hrs while hosts Victoria will faceoff with Diamond from 20:30hrs.
The action will then move to the Den Amstel ground on Wednesday with six matchups.
Winner of the event will receive $200,000 and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth placed teams will collect $100,000, $70,000 and $30,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
Similarly, the winner and the runner-up will walk away with 10 hampers each from Ricks and Sari’s. On the individual side, the event’s most valuable player will receive a three piece suite from A.H. & L. Kissoon.
