Dear Editor,
While the fate of the WICB is being discussed, there are a few cricket matches to play. I noted in an earlier communication that teams that lose lots of close games are likely to benefit more from mental than physical gymnastics.
In the last game there were, I believe, 4 run outs that could reasonably have cost an additional twenty runs.
It will not be useful to have someone tell the players how stupid they are, but rather have someone who can help them to crumble less under pressure. There will always be some crumbling, because it is the nature of sport at this level.
While they are at it, the WICB President and the head coach should get Bravo to ask himself whether the fact that Charles seemed more dominant than he was, led him to become too aggressive too quickly. Usually a batsman who gets to thirty or forty can make many more runs if he could have greater control of his emotions.
As an amateur psychologist, I suggest that Bravo and Samuels are at the opposite ends of the spectrum, the former having too much confidence, and the latter too little. Special attention should be paid to the psyche of these two guys. They can help win a few more games starting tomorrow.
Yours faithfully,
Romain Pitt
