Today, November 9, 2015 incoming passengers were given a warm Diwali welcome by Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation’s (CJIAC) staff at the Arrivals walkway.
Sweetmeats were distributed by the smiling faces to add to the festivities.
“Every year, CJIAC joins our Hindu brothers and sisters in celebrating the triumph of light over darkness. It is always a pleasure to have the passengers join us in these celebrations,” said Ramesh Ghir, the airport’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Over the years, passengers are treated to delicacies during the observations of major holidays including Mashrami, Easter, Emancipation and Christmas.
Diwali – the festival of lights – will be celebrated on November 10 as a national holiday.
The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.
The management of CJIA extends Diwali greetings to all of Guyanese.
