West Indian cricketers need help badly

Dear Editor,

I rose too late to see Fletcher bat, but I did see Jonathan Carter. Admittedly Carter has difficulty hitting the ball in front of the wicket, but that cannot by itself account for his poor performances. The young man seems to suffer intensely during his stays at the wicket. He badly needs help, mostly psychological. He is likely asking himself whether he belongs.

I suspect the situation is similar with Fletcher. West Indian cricketers need help badly.

One must first feel for them before one can help them. In the meanwhile the WICB President and Head Coach should not exclude from their squads those who have over the years some good performances, even if they are not superstars.

Yours faithfully,
Romain Pitt
