(Barbados Nation) A former long-standing West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) director has given the thumbs down to the idea of a CARICOM- appointed committee putting forward recommendations aimed at improving the administrative and governance structure of the regional governing body.
Jackie Hendriks, a WICB director between 1997 and 2007 when he was president of the Jamaica Cricket Association, also said that Caribbean cricket should be devoid of political influence.
Last Wednesday, a panel appointed by the CARICOM’s sub-committee of cricket governance released a report that called for significant changes, including the immediate dissolution of the WICB, and the appointment of an interim board whose structure and composition will be radically different from the existing governance framework.
“To be quite frank, I am a little concerned about it,” Hendriks told WEEKENDSPORT yesterday.
