The Wayne Forde-led ‘Team Integrity’ slate is gathering more support ahead of tomorrow’s Guyana Football Federation (GFF) congress as the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) General Council has mandated its President Clifton Hickens to support Forde.
Recently appointed GFA Secretary Althea Scipio during an invited comment said that while the general council did vote on the issue of supporting a slate at the GFF Congress, she could not disclose that information. However according to information emanating from the forum, several clubs voted for the association to throw its support behind ‘Team Integrity’ during the General Council meeting held at the Police Officers Mess Hall in Eve Leary on Monday 9th.
The sources further said that the clubs voted 6-1 in favour of supporting the current Fruta Conquerors chief in his bid to win the elections ahead of the Nigel Hughes-led ‘Team Unity’ party.
The clubs that voted in favour of supporting Forde were Police Sports Club, Houston Stars, Flamingo FC, Black Pearl, Sunburst Camptown and Northern Rangers. Voting in the favour of Team Unity was the newest member of the GFA Renaissance FC.
According to the sources, Western Tigers and Beacons FC abstained from exercising their franchise while Santos FC and Riddim Squad were unrepresented from the voting process despite Frank Parris and Lloyd Millington being present in their capacities as GFA executives.
The sources further said it was mandated that the three persons that will represent the association at the GFF congress will the President Hicken, Secretary Scipio and GFA executive Charles Greaves.
