Courts ushered in the Christmas season last evening with its annual tree lighting along Main Street.
The event was appropriately themed ‘Feel like a kid again’ as it was witnessed by a crowd that was packed with overjoyed children.
“When I look around me at the happy faces, particularly those of the little ones, and the anticipation of those faces, I understand the joy and the hope that we feel at Christmas time. For Christmas is a time for family, for sharing and togetherness, for peace on earth and goodwill towards men,” First Lady Sandra Granger, who delivered the feature addresss. In her speech, she remarked on the true meaning of Christmas and the symbolism that lights hold at this particular time of year.
Also making a special appearance at the event last evening were Deputy Mayor Patricia Chase-Green and Minister of Tourism Cathy Hughes, who was given the task of lighting the trees along the avenue.
