Fresh off their Banks 7s Championship win, the rugged Guyana Defence Force outfit thrashed the up and coming Guyana Police Force riggers 48-7 in a one-sided encounter when the GTT/GRFU 10s tournament continued last Saturday at the National Park.
The fleet footed national winger, Patrick King was unstoppable, scoring three tries as the Army unit’s trouncing of the policemen in their opening game of the tournament.
Supporting King were Troyton Braithwaite with two tries while Kareen Azeez, Seon Phillips Joseph Rahaman and Avery Corbin chipped in with try apiece.
After a determined effort by the police team, Kurt Hunte was able to shake past GDF’s saran wrap defence to secure the seven points on the score sheet.
The GTT/TEN Rugby Tournament will continue on Saturday at the same venue with two more games. The Hornets will take on the Caribs and the UG Wolves will face GDF.
Teams are competing for Trophies and Medals compliments of GT&T.
The teams in the tournament are GDF, Pepsi Hornets, UG Wolves, Yamaha Caribs and the Guyana Police Force. The two female teams will be President versus the Vice President select.
