Historian Tota Mangar was robbed of his SUV on Monday evening, just after he exited Moray House on Camp Street, Georgetown.
Mangar told Stabroek News that he exited Moray House around 8.40 pm, after attending the launching for two books by his colleague Roy Brummell. He said he entered his vehicle, PMM 6390, when two men, one armed with a gun and another with a knife, attacked him.
According to Mangar, he placed his belongings in the front passenger seat and was just about to start the car when one of the men placed a knife to his throat and the other pointed a gun to his face.
He said they demanded the key for the vehicle and he complied. They then made good their escape by driving up Camp Street in the vehicle.
Mangar went back into Moray House and informed others there what transpired and contacted the police, who arrived promptly on the scene.
Mangar related and he has been checking with the police regularly but up to late yesterday they were unable to locate the car.
The historian, who noted that it is common for him to attend such events at Moray House, said the attack has left him traumatised.
