International basketball will return to local shores later this month on when the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) hosts an Antigua and Barbuda Men’s All Star Team for a four-match series.
“The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has named a squad for the All Star Basketball Challenge Series that will bring many of the Antiguan players from their Men’s team that placed third in the 2015 Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championships, held during June 2015 in the British Virgin Islands,” stated a press release from the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF).
“Darcel Harris and Marlon Rodrigues will coach the Guyana Men’s All Star Basketball Team in their quest to outperform the Antigua and Barbuda All Star Team,” the release added.
The Guyana All Star Team will be selected from the following squad Dominic Vincente, Dave Causway, Travis Burnette, Kurtleigh English, Shelroy Thomas, Nikolai Smith, Travin Dryden, Harold Adams, Terron Welch, Amineke Archibald, Chris Williams, Dennis Niles, Keon Cameron, Trenton Woolford, Orin Rose, Jermaine Hamilton, Akeem Kanhai, Jason Squires, Stefon Gillis, Ruel Ritch, Tyrone Hamid, Randy Richardson, Royston Siland, Jermaine Slater, Shane Webster, Drumson McAulay, Fabian Johnson, Kurt Elias, Ryan Gullen and Rayon Cummings”.
The series will take place from November 26-December 2 and practice sessions will commence from 19:00 hours today at Burnham Court.
The game dates, start time and locations for the All Star Challenge Basketball Series between Antigua and Guyana are: 1. Saturday, November 28, Mackenzie Sports Club from 20:00 Hours.2. Sunday, November 29, Burnham Court from 20:00 Hours.3. Monday, November 30, Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 21:00 Hours.4. Wednesday, December 2, Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 21:00 Hours.
Supporting games will be played before each of the feature games. Basketball fans are encouraged to support their local basketball stars; with free admission for children under 13 years of age.
