The Budhan Memorial Turf Club will hold a grand one day horse race meet Sunday at the Number 66 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. Over three million dollars in cash prizes and trophies will be at stake. A total of seven exciting races are carded for the day and action is set to gallop off at 1pm. The feature event will be for the J1 and Lower horses which will feature some of the country’s top horses in that division vying for the first prize of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. According to race official Compton Sancho, the likes of red Jet, lady Secret Little, Plain Land, Blue Lightning, The Gum, Quincy, Liquid Lion, Up Front and others are set to compete.
Other races such as the J3 and Lower, the K1 and Lower, the K2 and Lower, the L 1 and Lower and the three year old race for Guyana bred horses along with the unclassified are also billed for the day. According to Sancho, the track is in excellent condition and all systems are in place for an absorbing day of action.
