An Albouystown youth was refused bail and remanded to prison after he was charged with attempted murder yesterday. It was alleged that Akeem Dazzel, 18, of 173 Campbell Street, Albouystown, on November 15th, with intent to commit murder, maliciously wounded Jamal Nichols.
According to Dazzel’s lawyer, his client was walking home when he was unexpectedly ambushed by two men at James Street, Albouystown. The lawyer said that in Dazzel’s efforts to defend himself, Nichols may have gotten some injuries. The lawyer also pointed out that his client sustained some injuries to his head, hands and shoulders from the assault but he was the only person being charged.
However, according to the prosecution, Dazzel allegedly used a screwdriver to stab Nichols in the neck and for this should be denied bail since the wounded man is still hospitalised and the injury is life-threatening.
Dazzel, who was not required to plead to the charge, was denied bail and is expected back in court on December 1st for statements.
