Newly-elected president of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Wayne Forde said the recent disclosure of the incorporation of the entity by the Normalization Committee will be scrutinized to determine its suitability for Guyana’s football.
According to an article in this daily on November 11th, it was revealed via The Companies Act ‘Certificate of Incorporation’, that the GFF was incorporated as a company in March of this year and that the then members of the Normalization Committee are/were the company’s directors.
The members of the former Normalization Committee were Clinton Urling, Karen Pilgrim, Tariq Williams and Rabindranauth Chandarpal as well as then member Stuart May. The document also revealed that the company’s secretary is Diedre Davis. This process was reportedly done without the knowledge of the GFF General Council.
In an invited comment with Stabroek Sports, Forde said:“Of course it will be reviewed. We have to determine whether there is precedence for it in the CONCACAF family and if there is any real advantage of Guyana’s football. Once we determine all the facts, we will engage the membership of the GFF to get to approval as to whether to stay incorporated or revoke it.”
According to Forde “The matter will be addressed shortly subsequent to a meeting with the Normalization Committee and the appointment of the GFF legal representative.
“We will offer the entire football fraternity a clearer understanding as to what transpired with that registration and guide them how we think that should be resolved. Ultimately that decision will be put to the General Council to make that decision”.
Asked when the audit of the federation will be completed, Forde said that executives will be meeting with the current auditors in the coming week to ascertain the status of proceedings, declaring that the entire year of 2014 and 2015 will also be targeted for audits.
Quizzed if the associations will be allowed to stage their respective year-end events, he noted:“We inherited plans for the FA cup and the way it is structured is that associations host a knockout tournament and after that the teams from the knockout tournament will form a part of the FA Cup including the Elite Teams.
“The executives will be meeting to look that recommendation and consider other recommendations for other year-end tourneys. For practical reasons due to the time factor, we may go with that format and next year have all the membership included in the conversation to discuss the best arrangement for the year-end tournament”.
“We will have one year to plan, meet and discuss what should be done. Ultimately we will be open all concerns, positions and recommendations and we will find a way to work around it,” Forde added
