While details of the accident are still unclear as no one was around the area when it happened, the person who found Correia’s body related to his family that he must have lost control of his the vehicle at a turn.

“We don’t know exactly what happened but we hear that he was found in a bad condition and all his arms and legs were broken,” Correia’s girlfriend, who did not give her name, told Stabroek News over the phone yesterday.

She said that from what she understands, he must have been speeding along the trail when he came up to a sharp turn that was rocky and he is believed to have lost control, causing the vehicle to crash and turn over on him. “We couldn’t even recognise him ’cause he was badly damaged but it had to be an accident. I don’t think it was anything else,” she said.
