A 17-year-old was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Sunil Scarce after he was charged with attempted murder when he appeared at the Wakenaam Magistrate’s Court.
The charge against Glenroy John, also known as Oskar Joseph of Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, stated that on November 18th at Lima Sands, he attempted to commit murder by stabbing his 27- -year-old brother-in-law Mark Daniels.
According to the police facts, on the above mentioned date at around 15:00hrs the two were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued over Daniels’ phone which was accidentally knocked down by John.
John allegedly picked up a knife which was nearby and stabbed Daniels to his left shoulder after which he fled.
Daniels was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he is still a patient in the ICU.
John was not represented in court by an attorney and Prosecutor Ramsahoye Rambajue objected to bail notifying the court that Daniels is still hospitalized and his condition is still not stable. He also said that if granted bail, John may not attend his trial.
Bail was refused and John was remanded to prison until December 16th when the case is expected to be called again at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.
