A date has been set for the commencement of the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Beverley Persaud and Oswald Yaw, who are accused of killing block maker Nathan Andrew Persaud.
Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday announced that the PI will begin on January 18th, 2016 and that all witnesses in the matter are to be summoned.
On the morning of September 10th, Persaud was brutally murdered at his Herstelling home. His body was later discovered after a neighbour, overhearing screams coming from the residence and later seeing a strange man leave the premises, realised something was amiss.
Persaud’s widow, Beverly, was taken in for questioning just days after the man’s murder, when she reportedly confessed to having a hand in the crime. The woman later implicated Oswald Junior Yaw, whom she allegedly offered money to kill Persaud. She had been involved in a property dispute with her husband.
Yaw and Persaud were charged jointly with the block maker’s murder on October 13th, when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
