A young Essequibo Coast man, who was riding his motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol, is now dead after he ran off the road at Exmouth.
Dead is Balwaan Singh, 23, who was a security guard of Westbury, Essequibo Coast.
According to the police, on Wednesday, around 8.30 pm, Singh was proceeding east on the northern lane of the Exmouth Public Road, Essequibo Coast on his motorcycle. While negotiating a bend, he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to end up on the eastern parapet of the road.
He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Charity Hospital. He was later transferred to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 1 am yesterday.
Speaking with this publication, Lloyd Singh said that his brother left home on Wednesday night to go to work at Walton Hall, where he was a security guard at a nursery school.
“He went going to work because he used to work from 9 pm to 5 am and he was under the influence of alcohol and then he run off the road at Exmouth. No one was not at home when the accident happen, so other relatives carry him to the hospital. When I reach home, a lot of neighbours and so were by my house and they tell me what happen. I went to Suddie Hospital and they had Balwaan on saline. The doctor told us that he get head injuries,” he related.
The body of Singh is at the Suddie Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
