Dear Editor,
It is now over three weeks since the tenders for road repairs along the GT-Lethem road were made public. This was seen as a welcome development since finally it seemed as though something was being done to improve the road, especially the pothole-ridden stretch from Linden to Mabura which has been in a terrible state for almost the whole of 2015 and beyond.
However, no works have commenced as yet and with the year rapidly coming to a close, will these works actually be undertaken since all accounts have to be closed by the end of the year?
Could someone in authority say when, or if, these road works will commence this year? Or would we have to wait for the approval of the 2016 budget to have it done some time next year?
The Christmas holidays are fast approaching and many people will be heading home to spend them with their family. Hopefully the Ministry of Public Infrastructure can give us a Christmas gift of a good GT-Lethem road so we can all travel in comfort and arrive home in a timely manner.
Is that too much to wish for?
Yours faithfully,
M Abraham
